Just in case you didn’t get enough of ’em during rainy season…

Here are some macro mosquito photographs from San Clemente Ecuador.

For the sake of science, I swatted these mosquitoes by hand, while trying not to crush them.  Don’t try this at home.

The Buddhist in me doesn’t like this, but I highly recommend squishing them completely as they inflect quite  a bit of suffering in us.  Sorry Buddha.

  1. Wow, more mosquitoes than I’ve seen since coming to Panama! We hardly have any in our area. Good luck with yours, hope they fade back into the countryside.

    • Alan, as with most places on the coast, we are subject to micro climates. Jan -April is the rainy season and the mosquitoes are prevalent then. But, on the other side of the coin, it is late May and I haven’t seen a skeeter in days. I think during the rainy season, they can really get to you. During non rainy season 8-9 months, they are not around. I am from Colorado, so mucho mosquito is new to me as well. Read another post I did about the bug zapper (House Guests post, im not sure which #) and you will feel like you have a chance against them. Don’t let the mosquitoes deter you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
      Caio!
