What do you do with all the driftwood on the beach?…

Burn it!!

The ocean has been depositing large amounts of driftwood / debris on the beach each day for about a week now.  I have no idea where it all came from.  A big storm in the mountains that washed all this wood through the river into the ocean?  An offshore storm somewhere?

The beach north of San Clemente was changed dramatically by this influx of debris.  The beach is usually very flat and gently sloping.  Yesterday, the sand was changed into small dunes.  They ran perpendicular to the ocean, not parallel.  They were spaced about 100 meters apart and ran for at least 1/2 mile.

Well, however the debris got here, it made perfect fodder for a beach bonfire!  Keith gathered up a bunch of wood and we had a bonfire on the edge of the beach.  Spending a Saturday night with a new friend, good weather, bonfire, and a beer.  Priceless!  Thanks for the invite Keith!
